It's a dark night...thunder booms over the heavens, God unleashes his fury on those unfortunate below. Rain pours down with an fierce intent...we enter the dark halls of Connar prison. Various voices of inmates are heard, a few screams from a few assaults, guards rushing over to correct the problem. As this occurs we continue down the halls into the solitary confinement holdings...where further down we discover a lone figure sitting in a lit room, his cell surrounded with clear glass so any suicide attempt would be noticed and prevented. The man before us was once one of the most powerful men in the world. A genetic therapist, and one of the military's most highly decorated officials- Donald Klein. Through the glass do we go...and into the mind of this fallen figure.
"It was flawless...orders...orders were issued. I did what was asked....WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT FROM ME?! I DID ALL THEY ASKED! " So many thoughts ran through the man's mind as he began to break. His fingers running furiously over his eyes as he leaned his head back against the cell wall. "We were to engineer the future. Soldiers that could heal on the spot, they would build an immunity to biological weapons...the perfect machines. The first tests were showing signs of promise...our subject was a man, Cole Martin, a soldier that was diagnosed with terminal cancer, the very thought of such driving him mad. An expendable subject if you ask me. No history...no family, the perfect guinea pig for a greater good. During the first week of testing there were some positive signs. The cancer actually faded...he was cured and couldn't have seemed more fit than he was. His speed, agility, his strength all were twice his normal abilities...."
"...then it happened...his symptoms began to change faster than we could've anticipated. He was becoming enraged...savage. His eyes were consumed with blood yet he was aware of everything around him. He attacked one of our physicians...so we sedated him...
"..If only for a few days, things appeared to be normal...after the incident Cole seemed to had fallen into a catatonic state. Motionless, as if his soul had slipped from his body and something else took him over. We thought it would be safe to move him back with the patients in the psychiatric ward, to see if somehow he would come out of this state, for we could not tell our results unless he physically would show signs or symptoms."
His eyes would close as the lights turned off to signal lights out in the prison. Nervously he would lay down, his eyes closing tightly.
"What went wrong....what went wrong?! IT WAS PERFECT! WHAT WENT WRONG!? WHAT WENT WRONG?!"
His heart began to race...palms deathly cold...sweat beading down his forehead as his eyes moved rapidly beneath his lids. Broken images of what occurred appeared in his head. The screams, the moans, the sheer horror of what was seen and heard in those nights would forever haunt him...there was no escaping what was done.
Alas the fear consumed him and a horrific shrieking scream would blare throughout the prison as Donald's hands pressed close to his eyes as he rolled onto his back, rocking side to side as the scream remained unbroken. Guards rushed in, nurses, and a doctor as well...they all rushed toward Mr. Klein as his scream continued and he fought to cover his eyes. What had driven one of the most powerful men in the world to this madness, this eternal fear? Most importantly...what happened that night? That...I'm afraid...is a tale you will have to see and live for yourself...
